Call for Papers! 9th Academic & Health Policy Conference on Correctional Health

Save the Date! The Correctional Health Conference is being held on March 17-18, 2016, in Baltimore, Maryland. 

The conference committee is now accepting abstracts for the 2016 conference. We invite you to submit your abstract for presentation at this event. The following formats are available:

  • Seminar: 60-minute seminars for facilitated policy discussions, panels or research skills (interactive)
  • Lecture: 30-minute lectures, detailed 20 minute topic presentation with 10 minute discussion
  • Peer Paper: 15-minute peer papers, tight 10 minute presentation on completed or in progress projects with 5-minutes Q&A
  • Special Topic Networking: 60-minute networking session focused on criminal justice health research, education, clinical care or policy
  • Poster:  Display and discuss an innovative correctional health clinical, quality or workforce development project

The submission deadline is September 22, 2015 at 9 p.m. EST.


We welcome presentations that reflect academic work germane to all aspects of correctional health clinical practice, research, workforce training and health policy. As a conference theme, the Board of Directors of the Academic Consortium on Criminal Justice Health is particularly interested in proposals focusing on Implementation Science related to important interventions to improve criminal justice health outcomes such as:

  • Community reentry
  • Strategies to reduce recidivism
  • Health policy
  • Public health
  • Infectious and communicable disease
  • Mental health
  • Substance abuse
  • Adolescent health care in juvenile facilities
  • Chronic illness care
  • Ethics of research with detainees
  • Research methods
  • Special Populations (e.g. seniors, women, transgender)
  • Education and training as workforce pipelines
  • Corrections-Academic partnerships
