Executive Director, Health and Criminal Justice

About Me

Dyana Nickl is a seasoned health care and criminal justice professional who has worked in a variety of behavioral health, prison, jail, and courtroom settings to improve outcomes for high-risk, underserved and vulnerable populations.


As executive director for the Health and Criminal Justice Program, she provides strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of program services, including planning, policy, operations, performance, and oversight of clinical, academic, and research activities.  Previously, as director, clinical services and compliance for Disability and Community Services, Mrs. Nickl coordinated the efforts of MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid), the Mass. Rehabilitation Commission, and the Mass. Department of Disability Services to deliver the long-term service and supports that enable individuals to live independently in the community. Prior to that, as senior director of operations, Mrs. Nickl coordinated contractual relationships and managed day-to-day clinical operations and program compliance in 17 correctional facilities. 

Mrs. Nickl earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in criminal justice and psychology from Westfield State University, and she received her law degree from Western New England University. She is an assistant professor in the Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Medical School.
