About Me

Dr. Ank Nijhawan is a physician and clinical researcher at UT Southwestern Medical Center where she is currently an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Nijhawan is originally from the Netherlands but has lived most of her life in the United States. She lives with her husband and two children in Dallas, Texas

Biography

Ank Nijhawan completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University and her MD and internal medicine training  at UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed training in infectious diseases and HIV at MGH/BWH combined program in Boston, MA, followed by a Master’s in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health and a research fellowship at Brown Medical School, where she became interested in the overlap of infectious diseases, substance use and incarceration. Dr. Nijhawan returned to Dallas in 2012 to work at Parkland Hospital and the Dallas County Jail, where she provides HIV care and conducts clinical research on improving HIV outcomes in vulnerable and underserved populations, including the incarcerated and recently released.
